Calibration services ensure your equipment provides proper measurements. These services keep your facility safe, enhance quality control and increase uptime. Garber Metrology performs calibrations every 6 to 12 months or as needed according to your operations.
We provide calibrations for many types of equipment, including tachometers. These devices tell how fast something spins or rotates, such as an engine crankshaft, fan blade or conveyor belt. They also monitor aerospace engines and propellers, pumps, engines, compressors and centrifuges. Tachometers can lose calibration due to mechanical wear, electrical issues, temperature, humidity, vibration, contamination or age. Our services ensure proper measurements of rotations per minute and surface speeds.
Garber Metrology tachometer calibration covers contact and noncontact tachometers. The first type requires a physical connection with the rotating object to measure speed. These devices use a mechanical or electric sensor. Their contact with the rotating device creates more wear and tear, possibly requiring more frequent calibration.
Noncontact tachometers don’t touch the rotating object. Instead, they use technologies like lasers, infrared sensors or reflective markers. Due to the lack of contact, these devices may need more precise calibration to ensure proper measurements.
We use different calibration procedures depending on the type of tachometer. Contact tachometers may require test wheels or known rotating surfaces. Noncontact tachometer calibration uses an electrical signal through a diode to simulate RPMs.
At Garber Metrology, we offer greater convenience through on-site and off-site calibration. Our on-site calibration services involve visiting your facility. When you request off-site calibration, you can send us your tachometer or arrange for pickup in the local area. Then, we’ll perform calibrations in our certified facilities. We complete most jobs within five business days to provide minimal disruption to your operations.
Our technicians use specialized equipment and align with the regulatory guidelines for your industry or institution. These trained professionals bring the necessary expertise to this intricate process. They begin by gathering all equipment and inspecting the device.
Once they prepare the calibration area, they can compare known reference values to the tachometer’s measurements and adjust the device as necessary.
Following calibration, we document all calibration data, including reference speeds, tachometer outputs, and adjustments. We generate Certificates of Calibration traceable to SI through NIST for quality assurance purposes.
